Outreach Programs
This year for our outreach projects each unit has chosen different criteria.
The senior unit’s outreach is the homeless and destitute
The middle unit’s outreach is Lawley Primary School,a primry school in an informal settlement.
The junior unit’s outreach is guide dogs.
The senior unit will collect non perishable food for the pantry at St Columba’s Church in the first and third term and in the second term they will collect for a soup kitchen. The pantry feeds 40 people who are destitute. A different class will deliver and pack the goods for the pantry each term and another class will deliver and help prepare the soup.
The middle unit will collect school stationery in the first term. In the second term they will collect dry food goods. In the third term they will collect sporting equipment. The items collected will be delivered by various classes.
The junior unit will have a fund raising day each term and host visits from the guide dogs and the blind. The money collected goes towards the purchasing of Leashes and Harnesses for the guide dogs.
We will be doing a coin collection for OASIS, which is a home for abandoned and AIDS babies and young children.
With winter upon us and we are always in need of squares for our blankets that are distributed to various organisations. Contact Mrs Cockburn to find out the size of the squares. The completed squares can be dropped off at the office.
We have a very busy year ahead for outreach. Please, support your child with each of the collections, discuss the reason for our collections and help us make the children aware of those less fortunate than ourselves!
If you would like to get involved in any of these projects, please feel free to contact Mrs Batwell for more information.
